Our new survey is examining how exiled media outlets are adapting their business models and monetization strategies amid recent funding challenges. Founders and managers of displaced newsrooms are invited to share their experiences.
The 2025 global funding crisis has made sustainable revenue models and diversified income sources more critical than ever for exiled media. This survey analyzes media models, funding practices, and monetization tools used by exiled newsrooms. Your responses will help identify effective approaches and gaps in sustainability strategies. The results, combined with follow-up interviews, will inform a practical toolkit for media managers and fundraisers working in exile.
The survey covers current models and operating conditions, revenue strategies, technology and innovation, what works across formats, and support needs. It should be completed by founders, editors-in-chief, managers, fundraisers, or staff responsible for administrative, financial, or funding areas. Participation can be anonymous. All data will be used solely for research, and no identifying information will be shared without explicit prior consent. Participants will receive updates and access to the Monetisation Toolkit upon completion in 2026.
Founders and managers are invited to contribute by filling the questionnaire.
