The Exile Media Hub offers a versatile workspace designed for journalists and media professionals. Located in the heart of Berlin, our amenities include coworking areas, training rooms, meeting spaces, and a pop-up studio for seamless audio and video recordings. We provide essential facilities for basic activities and additional offerings such as language classes, finance and project management workshops, and personalized consultations to support media workers and freelance as well as independent journalists. We are committed to providing support and resources to journalists in need, ensuring they have the assistance and guidance necessary to navigate their work in exile.

Within our hub, you’ll find distinct zones, each designated to serve a specific purpose, be it individual phone calls, hybrid or in-person meetings and workshops or a cozy get-together with colleagues.

Meeting room
Our professional space is equipped with an adjustable electric table, ensuring ergonomic comfort for extended meetings and presentations, a large screen and a Meeting Owl, suitable for up to 9 people.
Co-working
Our co-working zone offers a versatile space, ideal for both individual work sessions and editorial staff meetings. Accessible through our anonymized booking system, it caters to the individual media’s work dynamics and needs.
Recording studio
A versatile space equipped with soundproofing and customizable lighting, perfect for audio and video projects.
Training room
A dedicated space for workshops, seminars, team building sessions or lunch with your favorite colleagues.
Kitchenette
A convenient space equipped for breaks and a chit-chat in between.

Our 23sqm recording studio is designed for seamless content creation. Equipped with a podcast-ready mixer, soundproofing, adaptable lighting, and customizable backgrounds, facilitating your audio and video projects effortlessly.
Co-working
Our co-working space features two rooms spanning 19-22 sqm each, accommodating 5-10 people—ideal for editorial teams. Additionally, we provide a single person Zoom booth, along with meeting and training rooms catering to groups of up to 16 individuals.

Join our inclusive community, offering invaluable connections and networking opportunities with media professionals, freelance journalists, independent reporters, stakeholders, and experts, fostering collaboration and growth.
Consulting
Benefit from our consulting expertise, where we offer guidance and a network to assist with German tax laws, registration processes in Germany, visa and work permits, and grant applications.

The cozy kitchenette is complete with essential amenities including a microwave, dishwasher, kettle, and a premium coffee machine. Despite its compact size, it's a welcoming space to recharge during your breaks.

How do I become a member?
To become a member, we typically hold open calls where you can apply to become a resident. However, we understand unique circumstances and are open to reviewing individual requests. How can I become a member of your coworking space?
You can apply to become a member during our open calls for residency. Alternatively, you can submit a request for individual consideration through our contact form.
How are applicants selected for the residency?
Prospective residents are required to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire detailing their professional background, interests, and goals. Subsequently, a jury of independent journalists, in conjunction with our team, evaluates each application. Prospective residents undergo a rigorous evaluation process, with emphasis placed on their dedication to ethical journalistic practices and their ability to maintain independence in their work. We may also follow up with applicants for additional information if needed.
What amenities are available in your coworking space?
Our coworking space offers a range of amenities including a kitchenette with a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, fridge and coffee machine; meeting rooms with a meeting owl, electric table, a printer and TV screen; training facilities, and a recording studio with audio mixer, camera lights, soundproofing, a monitor and mac studio.
Is there a minimum commitment period for membership?
Membership commitments vary based on funding. Residency is for free during funding periods and can vary outside of the media hub’s financial coverage through donors.
Can I invite guests or interview partners to the Exile Media Hub?
It is absolutely possible to invite interview and business partners to the Hub if it is related to your work. Prior to that we ask residents to submit a short request to us and provide information about the invitee.
What safety measures do you have in place?
At our undisclosed location, we prioritize the safety and security of our community. Every individual visiting our space must be registered and undergo our security protocol. Access to the premises is exclusively managed by our staff, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the space. These measures are implemented to maintain a secure environment for all members, our and your guests.
